“Seeing Sounds” (Interscope): A-
Pharrell Williams and his N.E.R.D. brigade are finally conceiving experimental feats with serious pop appeal. The bulk of “Seeing Sounds” doesn’t resemble the group’s delirious new single, “Spaz” or the dance-ready referendum on recreational cocaine use, “Everyone Nose.” But each cut has its own personality, even if those personalities were heavily inspired by everyone from Bad Brains to the Beatles.
